Re: Town Manager’s Report
Dear Council Members:
The following will keep you up-to-date on various topics:
1. DISTINGUISHED BUDGET AWARD:
I am pleased to advise the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has presented CityplaceGlastonbury with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 2006-2007 budget. This is the 9th consecutive year for this recognition and CityplaceGlastonbury is 1 of approximately 10 communities state-wide to receive this highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. Congratulations go to all involved.
2. STP URBAN GRANT PROGRAM:
The Capital Region Council of Governments (CRCOG) recently distributed a Request for Proposals for projects to be funded under the Surface Transportation Program (STP). Applications must be submitted by CityWednesday, January 17, 2007. I will schedule preliminary discussion for an upcoming Council meeting so that formal action can be complete by December. Towns may submit up to 3 proposals and as I understand no town will be awarded more than $2.5 million in projects (CityHartford $3.5 million). Funding is for projects in the 2010 and 2011 time frame. There are a number of potentials including sidewalks, roadways and others.
3. CLEAN ENERGY:
The attached Community Energy certificate will be displayed at Town Hall to announce CityGlastonbury’s commitment to the “20% by 2010” campaign.
4. EXPENSE REPORT:
My expense report for the period July 2006 through September 2006 was forwarded separately. I will appreciate Council formally recognizing receipt of this information.
4, HOMESALES PRICES REPORT:
CRCOG recently published the Capital Region Home Sales Price Report for July 2005 through June 2006. If you would like a copy, please let me know and I will have available for you on Tuesday evening.
I will be happy to review the preceding and any other items Tuesday evening.
Sincerely,
Richard J. Johnson
Town Manager
