Stormwater Pollution Prevention
DEP MS4 Stormwater Permit
General Information

The discharge of stormwater from Town owned and maintained storm drainage systems is regulated through the CT Department of Environmental Protection General Permit for the Discharge of Stormwater from Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4)s.  This general permit requires that the Town have a stormwater management plan in place that includes the following six minimum control measures:

1. Public Education
2. Public Participation
3. Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination
4. Construction Site Run-off Control
5. Post Construction Stormwater Management
6. Pollution Prevention / Good Housekeeping Practices for Municipal Operations

Annual Report and Stormwater Sampling Data

Also required as part of the DEP MS4 General Permit is Annual Reporting on progress made toward the goals of the Stormwater Management Plan, as well as wet weather sampling of stormwater at 6 location throughout Town to test for various pollutants that may be impacting stormwater quality.  Annual Reports and Testing data for 2004, 2005, and 2006 are available using the links below.
