Creative Experiences is a testament to the Town of Glastonbury’s commitment to promote the development of children and youth.  These programs have three essential objectives:

7212003_41415_0.bmp        To offer opportunities for young people to become positively involved in the community.
7212003_41415_1.bmp        To teach social skills so that young people can effectively utilize those opportunities.
7212003_41415_2.bmp        To provide appropriate rewards to reinforce utilizing skills and opportunities.
DOUBLE-TAKE is an improvisational theatre ensemble for adolescents.  The group studies create thinking techniques and meets Wednesday afternoons 2:15-3:15 p.m. at the agency.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS – mini-classes in the arts are taught by high school students to elementary school students after school.  The classes are advertised and filled on a “first-come, first served” basis.

PASS IT ON – offers students in grades 7-12 an opportunity to produce a quality half-hour television program for the community.  The program airs on Cox Cable's Channel 15 every Thursday at 4:30 pm.  The program content includes entertaining, informative and educational topics.

PETER PAN PLAYERS – are junior and senior high school students who perform fairy tales for the elementary schools in the spring to invite younger children to summer show auditions and to inform young people of the value of Glastonbury Youth and Family Services programs.

FALL MUSICAL – Students in grades 7-12 work in a small ensemble to improve their production and communication skills.

YSAG (Youth Services Action Group) – is a service learning organization involving students in grades 7-12.  The group meets weekly to plan and execute community service projects such as Halloween celebration, which offers a safe, entertaining alternative to “trick or treating,” and teaches adolescent to care for younger children in the community.

IN-SCHOOL WORKSHOPS - The Creative Experiences staff team teaches creative arts classes in the schools, upon request.

ODYSSEY OF THE MIND - Odyssey of the Mind teaches kids to think divergently by providing open-ended problems that appeal to a wide range of interests. This is an international problem-solving organization for students in grade Pre-K through college.  Students learn how to identify challenges and to think creatively to solve problems.  They are free to express their ideas and suggestions without fear of criticism.  Each team is comprised of 5-7 members with one or more coaches. Students work in teams to create a solution to their Long-Term problem.  Teams compete in State Finals in March and winners are then invited to The World Finals in May.

To become involved in or find out more about any of our programs, please call the Creative Experiences staff at 652-7664.
